Wheatcroft Cowans Of Western Kentucky

Cowans From Western Kentucky

This Site Is To Tell The Story Of The Other Cowan Family From Western Kentucky. My Line Of Cowan's Come From Jeremiah & Elizabeth Hayes Cowan. For The Longest Time I Thought That The Cowan's All Came From Jeremiah & Elizabeth Hayes Cowan. The More I Researched I Found There Was Indeed A Second Cowan Family In Western Kentucky. This Cowen Family Looks To Have Come From A Andrew "Andy" Cowen & Jane Adams His Wife.  Andy Cowen Was Born In 1825 In Tennessee. Jane Adams Was Born In 1822 In Tennessee. My Thought Has Been That The Cowans In The Western Kentucky Area Had Come From My 4 X Great Grandfather Jeremiah Cowan's Side. Jeremiah & Elizabeth Hayes Cowan Where Both Born In The Old 96th. District Of South Carolina.   To Read More On Jeremiah & Elizabeth Hayes Cowan Go To Cowans Of Western Kentucky .

Andy & Jane Adams Cowen Had A Son Named, William Cowen who was Born In Tennessee On November 12, 1854. William Married A Sarah E. Hopper. Sarah Was Born In Kentucky On September 01, 1854. I Have No Information When William And Sarah Got Married. Also I Have Not Found Any Information On Sarah E. Hopper Cowen's Parents. William Cowen Was A Farmer Whom Settled In Wheatcroft, Webster County, Kentucky. For This They Have Always Been Known as The Wheatcroft Cowans. I Remember As A Small Child Hearing This Alot. William & Sarah E. Hopper Cowen Had Eight Children, As Far As I Can Find So Far. They Had Eight Son's. Sarah E. Hopper Cowen Died In 1909 And Just Nine Years Later In 1918 William Cowen Past. They Are Both Buried In The Rock Springs Cemetery Located In Wheatcroft, Webster County, Kentucky.

Most Of This Cowan Line Stayed In The Wheatcroft, Kentucky Area As Far As I Can Find So Far. For The Most Part It Also Seems That The Big Majority Of This Family Are Buried In The Rocksprings Cemetery In Wheatcroft, Kentucky. I Don't Know Very Much On This Cowan Line Due To The Fact There Is Not To Much I Have Found So Far. I Have Found As Well That William & Sarah's Son's Spelt Their Name Cowan And Not Cowen. This Could Have Come From My Line Of Cowans In This Area Already Spelling Theirs With The Letter A Insted Of An E. Some Of William & Sarah's Son's Where Robert Seldon, John F., William Jefferson "Jeff", George W., Edward Sights "Edd", Thomas "Elmer".         Anyone Knowing Any Thing On This Cowan Or Cowen Line Please Contact Me And Set Me Straight.
